Who We Are

Prime Strategies is a boutique public affairs consulting firm providing customized programs to private industry, with a strategic focus on the City of Toronto, the Ontario government and the Federal government, particularly where issues overlap.

Our customized programs take a client from concept to reality by packaging advocacy, communications, monitoring, and relationship management strategies along with the necessary strategic advice to implement a program.

Prime Strategies works with a wide variety of organizations and associations that need to improve their relationships with government. At Prime Strategies, we pride ourselves in organizing strategies around a long game approach, understanding that success is won as a result of short-term tactics based on long-term strategy.

 

   


Vic Gupta

Principal

Vic Gupta is Principal of Prime Strategies. He is responsible for setting the company’s direction and managing client relationships.

Before founding Prime Strategies, Vic served in senior positions with politicians at both Queen’s Park and Toronto City Hall. At Queen’s Park, he was a political aid to the Minister of Citizenship. At City Hall, Vic acquired a broad understanding of the legislative process vis-a-vis how issues move through the various committees, sub-committees, bureaucracy and Council. Vic has built an extensive network of relationships among Toronto City Councillors, their staff and city officials.

In addition to working for the government, Vic has also been actively involved in the political process. Vic has successfully managed many campaigns at the provincial and federal level including roles on various leadership campaigns. Municipally, Vic successfully managed campaigns for former Toronto City Councillor Rob Davis and most recently, he was the Deputy Campaign Manager for the John Tory for Mayor Campaign. Through his involvement in campaigns at all levels, Vic has established a reputation as a keenly strategic thinker and an effective organizer.

Vic has also developed a keen interest in international affairs. Vic is the Director of Democratic Development of the Conservative Party International Institute, the official international arm of the Conservative Party of Canada. Vic has attended many international conferences in this capacity representing the Conservative Party and Canada.

Vic attended the University of Western Ontario and has an honours degree in Political Science. He is involved in a variety of community and cultural activities.


Peter Seemann

Peter recently joined Prime Strategies and brings a variety of skills and experience to our team. With more than 15 years of experience as a business owner and entrepreneur, Peter has advised a variety of organizations on topics ranging from marketing strategies to organizational development. He has specific interest and recent experience related to corporate sustainability and opportunities related to the new emerging green economy. Peter is also the Chair for the Steward of the Earth, a newly created non profit organization that aims to engage children on environmental initiatives.

Peter has managed several political campaigns for both federal and provincial candidates. He has close relationships with members of the federal government as well as members of the Ontario legislature. Creative and focused, Peter is a proven project manager with excellent communication skills.

Peter completed his MBA in Executive Management, with a specialization in Leadership at Royal Roads University in Victoria BC in 2008.

 

John Perenack

John Perenack is communications expert who has been providing guidance and counsel to clients for over a decade. He routinely advises organizations on communicating with media, government, investors and other stakeholders in both good times and bad. He has worked with governments and companies from many sectors of the economy, including banking, transportation, insurance, health care, retail, telecom and manufacturing.

John is also a skilled messaging coach who has helped dozens of executives to successfully interact with media and get their messages across in a clear and concise way.

Prominent examples of his work include planning and executing communications for the removal of squatters from Toronto's Tent City; employee and stakeholder communications during mergers, bankruptcies & restructurings; counsel to a leading pharmaceutical company in dealing with the challenge of internet pharmacies; surveying institutional investor sentiment and developing investor relations recommendations for one of Canada's largest hydro-electric corporations; recalls of food and consumer goods products; and raising the profile of numerous organizations and companies throughout Canada.

John holds a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and strategic management from the Schulich School of Business at York University and also earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.

 

Christine McMillan

Prime Strategies welcomes our newest Ontario government relations and public affairs consultant, Christine McMillan, who brings her keen insights into the inner workings of the Ontario Liberal Party and the McGuinty Government.

A lifelong Liberal, Christine has been directly involved with party affairs since 1996 when she began working in the offices of MPPs Gerard Kennedy and subsequently Dominic Agostino.

In 2000, Christine went to work directly for Premier Dalton McGuinty, at the time in his role as Leader of the Official Opposition. Beginning as McGuinty's Special Assistant for Issues Management, she quickly advanced to the role of Manager of Strategic Regional research and took responsibility for coordinating the Leader's Tour in the lead up to the 2003 General Election.

Her first role in the McGuinty government involved serving as Executive Assistant to the Premier's Chief of Staff, before being promoted to Director of Operations. In 2006, Christine became the Director of Research in the Liberal Caucus Services Bureau.

In the 2007 general election, Christine served as co-director for the Ontario Liberal campaign's War Room.
